Incopro partners with BBC Children in Need to protect brand copyright online
– Incopro helped to protect the charity’s brand copyright online for free in the run-up to Children in Need 2018 –
20 November, 2018 – Incopro, the online brand protection provider, has supported BBC Children in Need by monitoring the BBC’s UK corporate charity online to help protect against copyright infringement through the sale of counterfeit merchandise.
The pro-bono partnership involved Incopro using their brand protection software, Talisman, to help minimise copyright infringement from counterfeit merchandise being sold online.
Protecting a brand online and combating counterfeit goods is a huge challenge. Recent research found that 1 in 4 (26%) of UK consumers have been left disappointed as a result of unintentionally purchasing counterfeit goods in the last 12 months.
Incopro Chief Operating Officer, Helen Saunders, said, “Sadly, counterfeit products sold online that illegitimately use charity brands may divert money away from good causes. Furthermore, customers may be disappointed to find that purchases bought from unofficial vendors are not authentic and, in some cases, may be of poor quality. We are pleased to have supported BBC Children in Need by making sure online donations are protected and that the proceeds reach the cause they were intended for – making a real difference to children in the UK.”
